Irish Genealogical Society of Michigan
Welcome to the Irish Genealogical Society of Michigan. The Irish Genealogical Society of Michigan is a non-denominational organization focusing on genealogical research in all thirty-two counties of the Emerald Isle. Our meeting is open to everyone who can attend at the Gaelic League. Zoom invitations are sent out to members only due to capacity limitations.
The Irish Genealogical Society of Michigan shall have the following purposes:
- To be an organization exclusively historical and/or educational;
- To preserve and perpetuate the records and cultural heritage of our Irish ancestors;
- To compile, prepare, publish, preserve and promote material of Irish genealogical and/or historical significance;
- To create interest and aid individual members of the Society and the general public in the compilation of their genealogies;
- To cooperate with other genealogical and historical societies in matters of Irish genealogical interest;
- To sponsor and encourage educational courses and activities in Irish genealogy and history.
Meeting Place and Times
The IGSM holds their meeting at the Gaelic League of Detroit, 2068 Michigan Avenue, Detroit, MI 48216. The meeting are normally held on the third or fourth Saturday of the month, from September through June, except December, at 1:30 pm. Schedule changes do occur because of Gaelic League events.
